Salt Mines of Maras 5

Part of the “Salt Mines of Maras” series, this photo was taken on July 30th, 2023 outside of Cusco, Peru in the middle of Qori Pujio mountain slopes in the Sacred Valley at an altitude of 10,500 feet above sea level. It features aerial shots of more than 6,000 salt evaporation ponds that were carved by the Inca, in operation for over 500 years and still mined by local families.
